Why doesn't my boyfriend want me to be closer to him?

Okay so my boyfriend and I have been dating for a little more than 3 years. He’s 24 and I’m 20. Currently we live an hour away from each other and visit each other every weekend. I’m almost finished college, I’ll be done the in-cl term in JAN. and from JAN. to APR. I’ll be on a work term. So I suggested that I do my work term somewhere in a city that is only 20 mins from his house, so we’d be a lot closer. I suggested we get a place together that way we could be together all the time and he’s a lot closer to his work. He’s refused the idea because he doesn’t have the money right now and he’s trying to pay off debt, hes an accountant and makes more than enough money for us to get a small apartment. He currently lives at home with his parents (he’s 24, and Italian). So I let that go, but I still want to move there to be closer to him so I’ll see him more and everytime I bring up the idea, he’ll point out all the negatives of moving there, and remind me of how complicated it’s going to be, it seems like he’s doing everything he can to deter me from moving there. I feel so rejected and confused. He’s excited about the future, he talks about marrying me and having kids all the time. So why doesn’t he want to spend every second with me and come home to me if he really loves me? I need your advice…should I move on and look for somebody who can’t stand being away from me and wants to be with me all the time or should I wait for him to “get his finances under control” and let go of Mommy’S hand? Is he just looking out for MY well being? Does he have something on the side? Please help
