If I buy a 2009 sidekick unlocked from walmart.com, will it work with the $45 straightalk plan?

I'm told sometimes when you unlock a phone then use something other than tmoblie, it doesnt work. So if i buy this 2009 lx which is already unlocked, will everything on the phone function properly? calls, internet, IMs, etc.??
