Are you against players being selected for rep teams who play for teams who dont make the top 8?

If they are good enough, then they should be in the squad. (Example here, no offence Cowboy Supporters) Look at Johnathon Thurston. One of the best, if not, the best halfback in the game. He plays for the Cowboys, who IMO don't have the strongest team. As good as Thurston is, even he couldn't pick up the slack and guide his team into the top 8. Does that mean he shouldn't be selected? No. Players alike have proved themselves over the 26 rounds of the competition. Just because their team doesn't make the 8, doesn't mean a player in a bottom 8 team is terrible. What happens if the Roosters offer a $1 million a year contract to say Cameron Smith, and he takes it? The Roosters (once again, no offence supporters) probably won't make the 8, meaning Smith doesn't make the Australian squad. This is why selectors should pick the best players from every team, not just top 8.
