Pacifier versus thumb?

I have 3 children and have never used a pacifier and they never sucked their thumbs, must be different babies need different comforts. But I have spoken to many mums who would argue that the dummy is just as hard to break the habit! How old is your baby? Dummies can interfere with successful feeding if it is offered before the in young babies.
